The Anti-Corruption and Research-based Data Initiative (ARDI), a coalition of anticorruption groups, has called upon the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to adhere to due process in the prosecution of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.
Bello is currently under investigation for allegedly embezzling a significant sum of N80.2 billion.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Chief John Ozigbo emphasized the importance of both the anti-graft agency and Bello operating within the confines of Nigerian law.
Ozigbo highlighted the coalition’s concern regarding the recent events, including the raid on Bello’s private residence in Abuja.
The group stressed the necessity for all parties involved to conduct themselves in accordance with the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This, they believe, will prevent further tarnishing of the country’s anti corruption efforts and reduce unnecessary political tensions.
