A tragic accident has left former Super Eagles player, Tijani Babangida, his wife, and son hospitalized, while claiming the life of his younger brother, Ibrahim Babangida.
Tijani, a gold medalist from the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, was driving when their vehicle collided with a moving trailer along the Kaduna-Zaria Road on Thursday, May 9.
Emmanuel Babayaro, Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), confirmed the incident, stating that Tijani and his wife are currently receiving medical care at Shika Hospital in Zaria.
The accident occurred while they were en route from Kaduna to Zaria, resulting in the tragic loss of Tijani’s brother, Ibrahim Babangida, at the scene.
Emmanuel went on to say;
“Comrades! Let us be in prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida, who just had a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Zaria Road.“Ibrahim Babangida, his younger brother, died on the spot from the accident while Mr President (Babangida) and his family were taken to the hospital. May the soul of Ibrahim Babangida Rest in Peace with God, amen, he stated.
“He is currently admitted at Shika Hospital in Zaria, where he is receiving treatment and to the glory of God he is conscious,”
