The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the reopening of Runway 18L/36R after a Dana Airline aircraft overshot the runway on Tuesday.
FAAN stated that the runway was reopened for flight operations at 19:58hrs on Tuesday evening.
According to reports from JennySoul, a Dana Airline McDonnell Douglas MD-82 aircraft slipped off the runway at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The incident occurred around past 9 am local time on Tuesday, leading to the closure of the affected runway.
In a statement by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the Authority’s emergency response team successfully evacuated and recovered the aircraft from the incident site.
And was also able to safeguard the lives of the boarders.
