Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Nweke Daniel Kelechi and Iroude Chibuzor on charges of currency racketeering involving N850,000.
The arrests were made by the Special Task Force of the EFCC on Sunday, May 26, 2024, during a sting operation near the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch at ESBS in Enugu State, following extensive surveillance and actionable intelligence.
The sting operation initially led to the arrest of Chibuzor. Subsequent investigations revealed that Chibuzor was acting on behalf of Kelechi, who had authorized him to sell new Naira notes.
An EFCC spokesperson stated, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
