The rate at which internet fraud in the country is increasing is quite alarming. It is a wake up call for the government to look into this plight as most Nigerian Youths are engaged in this crime and seem so comfortable with it.
The Economic and financial crimes commission EFCC, via their official Twitter handle had announced the arrest of a 16year old boy alongside 28 others for internet fraud better known as Yahoo Yahoo last saturday
The internet fraudsters were arrested in three different locations in Owerri,Imo State. Following Intelligence reports, the haul included a 16year old undergraduate who used fictitious names to defraud their victims
Following intelligence report, the EFCC Officials laid siege and had a three day surveillance at their hideout at Bishop Courts Malo Lodge Umuagu Mbieri and King David’s suites in owerri.
A lot of items were discovered from them including 15 laptops,computers, also Lexus RX 350,2013 Model,Lexus RX 330 2009 model,Lexus ES 300,2002 model,Toyota Corolla Sport,and Toyota Camry were seized from them.
The suspects are in police custody and will be charged to court.
