The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has apprehended a driver involved in a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in the Kosofe area of the state.
The driver, transporting pepper and perishable items in a Toyota Hiace bus, was reportedly speeding when he lost control, colliding with two other vehicles and fatally injuring the pedestrian.
One passenger was also injured in the crash. Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs of LASTMA, confirmed the incident.

He also cautioned drivers to conduct regular vehicle checks, including the braking system, before embarking on any journey.
According to Taofiq:
“The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, while appealing to pedestrians to always stay at government-designated bus stops to board commercial buses, however, warned both commercial and private drivers to stop over-speeding and ensure their vehicles are properly checked before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos.”
