Nigerian comedian Alibaba has commended Burna Boy for his exceptional role in enhancing Nigeria’s international reputation, arguing that the singer has outperformed the country’s official ambassadors.
In a recent interview on Channels Television, Alibaba expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s disregard for the entertainment industry in its economic planning.
Alibaba highlighted the significant oversight of the creative sector by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
“Two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group looked into a forecast of the Nigerian economy in the next five years, and the entertainment and creative industry was not considered,” he stated.
“A booklet of about 200 pages was done and the creative industry was not considered.”
Alibaba praised Burna Boy for his substantial contributions to promoting Nigeria globally, asserting that the artist has achieved more in raising national awareness than any official ambassador.
“Burna Boy has done a lot more for Nigerian national awareness than any ambassador that has been posted to America, the UK, or any other place,” Alibaba remarked.
“So Nigerian artists are creating national awareness and making other countries know about us more than any ambassador would have done.” He continued.
