The child custody proceedings between Queen Mercy Oyekanmi and Promise Anagbogu, known as Lord Lamba, have been adjourned to July 18 for a hearing by the Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State.
This decision followed Lord Lamba’s failure to appear in court on Thursday, May 23. Adding to the complications, his lawyer was also absent, sending a representative who claimed ignorance of the skitmaker’s whereabouts.
A source close to the case commented on the situation:
“Today was the court hearing and Queen was there but her baby daddy didn’t show up. His lawyer didn’t come; instead, he sent his assistant to represent him. Because he didn’t appear in court, his lawyer requested a new date, so it was adjourned to 18th of July for hearing.”
It was alleged that Lord Lamba filed the child custody petition without notifying Queen Mercy Atang, leading to court sessions proceeding without her knowledge.
Upon discovering the court date through her legal team, Queen Mercy Atang attended the hearing, but Lord Lamba failed to appear.
The tension between Lord Lamba and Queen Mercy Atang escalated when she announced her engagement.
Shortly after the announcement, Lord Lamba posted pictures of himself and their daughter on Instagram for the first time since her birth in 2022. This post sparked accusations from netizens, suggesting that he was jealous of Queen Mercy Atang’s engagement.
In response to Lord Lamba’s post, Queen Mercy Atang released a skit with Nasty Blaq, which seemed to mirror her real-life situation, leaving many netizens puzzled by the parallels.
Despite the ongoing custody battle, Queen Mercy Atang proceeded with her wedding to her UK-based husband, which was a highly publicized event.
The wedding featured a glamorous all-white theme and was attended by numerous BBNaija alumni and other reality TV stars, showcasing Queen Mercy Atang’s significant influence and support network.
