In a troubling incident, a Catholic priest has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for his involvement in a series of sex and drug-related crimes, including failing to provide assistance during a medical emergency.
Reverend Father Tomasz Zmarzły, associated with the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Angels, faced legal repercussions after a man overdosed on erectile dysfunction pills during a gathering organized by the priest.
The event, characterized by Mail Online as a ‘gay orgy,’ took place at Father Zmarzły’s apartment in the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza. When emergency services were summoned by a male prostitute attending the gathering, the priest reportedly instructed him to leave.
Despite the dire medical situation, Father Zmarzły allegedly refused entry to paramedics, prompting the ambulance service to involve law enforcement.
Upon intervention by the police, the unconscious individual was discovered inside the apartment and promptly transported to the hospital, where he eventually recovered.
The priest’s actions, which included denying access to medical assistance and misleading his superiors about the nature of the gathering, led to his sentencing for sexual offenses, drug-related crimes, and negligence in providing aid to a person in need.
As a consequence of his actions, Father Zmarzły has been ordered to pay damages to the victim and contribute to a fund established to aid crime victims. Given the gravity of the charges, the trial proceedings were conducted in secrecy, with no possibility of appeal.
