Brentford Football Club has exercised their buy option to secure the services of Flying Eagles defender Benjamin Frederick.
The 18-year-old talent, who hails from Kaduna, was signed from Simoiben Academy, which is owned by Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon.
Renowned Italian journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the deal, disclosing that Frederick’s contract with Brentford will run until 2028.
Frederick’s journey to Brentford began at Simoiben Football Academy, where he honed his skills before joining ABS FC ahead of the 2021–22 season.
His impressive performances earned him a debut for ABS FC in February 2022, where he even clinched the man of the match award. Subsequently, in August 2023, Brentford secured Frederick’s services on loan, with an option to make the move permanent.
The young defender’s potential was further showcased when he made his way into Brentford’s first-team match-day squad for the first time in January 2024, being named as a substitute for an FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Additionally, Frederick has represented the Flying Eagles, notably featuring in the team that secured a third-place finish at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt.
His talents also earned him a spot in the Flying Eagles squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, demonstrating his promising future in the world of football.
