On this year’s Workers’ Day, the Kwara State government elevated the welfare of judges at the state High Court by presenting them with top-of-the-range Toyota Fortuner Jeeps.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq handed over 11 of these vehicles to the judges, underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhancing their comfort and efficiency in serving the state and the nation.
In addition to the fleet of Fortuner Jeeps, Chief Judge Justice Abiodun Adebara received a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for his official use, further highlighting the government’s dedication to providing the judiciary with the necessary resources.
During the official presentation ceremony at the State High Court in Ilorin, Justice Adebara disclosed that earlier in February, five Toyota Fortuner Jeeps were allocated to five High Court Judges from funds allocated in the 2023 budget. He emphasized that providing a new vehicle is a prerequisite for the appointment of a new judge, as mandated by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
“I want to sincerely thank His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has consistently supported the judiciary of Kwara State,” Adebara remarked. “His prompt approval and release of funds for the procurement of these vehicles demonstrate his commitment to the judiciary’s welfare.”
Adebara highlighted the significance of this gesture, noting that the last time judges received vehicles from the government was eight years ago. He emphasized that providing modern vehicles enhances the efficiency and dignity of the judicial office, ultimately boosting the morale of judges.
“We are deeply grateful to Governor AbdulRazaq for prioritizing this essential need of the judiciary amidst various competing demands in the state,” Adebara expressed. “While some judges are yet to receive their vehicles, I am confident that they will soon benefit from this commendable initiative.”
The presentation of these vehicles reflects the government’s recognition of the crucial role played by the judiciary and its commitment to supporting the administration of justice in Kwara State.
