Gasco Marine Management, the owner of the tanker truck involved in the tragic explosion in the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of its deceased staff and offered assistance to other victims whose properties were affected by the fire.
In a statement issued by the management of the logistics company on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the company emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of its employees and the communities in which it operates.
“We deeply regret the unfortunate incident involving one of our gas delivery vehicles on Saturday, April 27, 2024, in the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. This incident resulted in the tragic loss of life of an employee who was serving as a motor mate accompanying the driver, as well as damage to properties in the vicinity. Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased and all those affected by this devastating event. We are extending our full support to them during this challenging period,” the statement read.
Gasco Marine reiterated its commitment to adhering to strict safety standards and continuously improving its health and safety policies to prevent such incidents in the future.
The company also commended the swift response of emergency teams, including personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Control Agency (TRACE), the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), and representatives of the Ogun State Government, who were on-site promptly to provide assistance.
“We have activated our emergency response protocols and are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. As the investigation progresses, we will keep all stakeholders informed. Our primary focus remains on supporting the affected families and ensuring the highest levels of safety across our operations,” the statement concluded.
