Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), has taken a firm stance against the recent increase in DStv subscription fees, declaring his refusal to renew his membership.
Effective May 1, customers on the DStv Premium bouquet will face a revised fee of N37,000, up from the current N29,500, while Compact+ subscribers will see their fees rise to N25,000 from N19,800. Similarly, subscribers to the Compact bouquet will experience an increase to N15,700 from N12,500.
Additionally, customers opting for the Confam, Yanga, and Padi packages will now pay N9,300, N5,100, and N3,600, respectively, up from N7,400, N4,200, and N2,950.
This surge in prices has sparked widespread discontent among consumers nationwide, who are grappling with existing economic challenges.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Apostle Chibuzor asserted his decision to abstain from renewing his subscription until the fees are revised downward, echoing the sentiments of many disgruntled subscribers.
The statement reads:
“Millions of Nigerians can no longer meet up with the current price of DStv/GOLD TV subscription because of the current economic reality in Nigeria.
“So as my current subscription is expiring, I shall not be renewing my DSTV subscription until DSTV reduces the price.
“Starting from today I will be searching for alternatives that I will be watching because basically it is majorly news and OPM TV which is a 24-hour television station I watch when I am chanced.
“But DSTV, NO to the renewal of subscription until prices are reviewed downwards”.
