A distressing incident has come to light involving an eight-year-old girl who has suffered physical abuse at the hands of her aunt.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared a harrowing video depicting the aftermath of the assault, revealing the child’s swollen eyes and hands. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at D Champions Hospital in Lagos.
The girl, who resides in Ijaiye, Lagos State, was entrusted to the care of her aunt for guardianship and education. However, instead of providing nurturing care, the aunt subjected her to violence, resulting in severe injuries.
Gwamnishu’s impassioned plea emphasizes the responsibility caregivers have towards children entrusted to their care, urging them to treat them with the same love and protection as their own offspring. In her words:
“OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN IN YOUR CARE ARE YOUR CHILDREN. TREAT THEM AS YOURS. If you can’t take care of them as yours, take them back.”
