Ahead of the highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former national chairman Prince Uche Secondus has issued a stern call to party leaders.
In a statement conveyed by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi, Secondus urged PDP leaders to halt the persistent efforts of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, to leverage the party for his own political relevance within President Bola Tinubu‘s administration.
Emphasizing the need for party unity and resilience, Secondus stressed that Wike’s maneuvers should not distract from the overarching goal of demonstrating that no individual holds sway over the collective strength of the party.
He underscored that Wike‘s political standing is already waning and cautioned against allowing his disruptive tactics to undermine the party’s integrity.
Secondus highlighted Wike’s alleged attempts to fabricate internal strife within the party to bolster his own significance, particularly in relation to potential conflicts with key party figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He urged the party’s core structures, including NEC, BOT, National Caucus, and gubernatorial and legislative bodies, to unite against disruptive influences like Wike and refocus on advancing the party’s interests.
Furthermore, Secondus urged party leaders not to fall prey to Wike’s ploys by elevating his diminishing relevance within the party.
He called upon the party’s founding members and dedicated supporters to uphold the principles of unity and integrity, safeguarding the party’s legacy and ensuring its resurgence to prominence.
In conclusion, Secondus rallied the party faithful to remain steadfast and resolute in the face of external pressures, affirming that no individual or faction should overshadow the collective aspirations of the PDP.
