In a groundbreaking move, the Benue State government unveils plans to harness its abundant resources towards self-sufficiency in power generation.
Set against the backdrop of its natural wealth, the state is gearing up to produce hybrid solar panels and lithium batteries, tapping into its silicon and lithium mineral reservoirs.
This visionary step, revealed by Alex Addingi, the governor’s special adviser on international investments, signals a pivotal shift towards energy autonomy.
The state has inked a strategic partnership with Sinoki System Limited, a prominent solar producer based in China, poised to kick-start operations imminently.
This collaboration aims not only to alleviate the persistent issue of power outages but also to position Benue as a renewable energy exporter to neighboring states.
Moreover, the surplus energy will fuel the production of Benue’s own electrical vehicles, marking a significant stride towards sustainability.
The ripple effects of Benue’s renewable energy initiative are far-reaching. By bolstering economic activities, particularly in rural areas, communities are empowered to embark on small-scale ventures, catalyzing growth and prosperity.
With power generation decentralized, Benue is primed to emerge as a bustling hub of commerce, breathing new life into its landscape.
In tandem with this ambitious endeavor, the state is poised to unveil the Benue International Investment in November, laying the foundation for the Benue Economic City.
This dynamic change is slated to host a plethora of enterprises, fostering job creation and economic dynamism. The journey towards self-reliance has also extended to healthcare, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai Haitian Hospital.
This collaboration promises to stem the tide of brain drain by facilitating academic and clinical exchanges with Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
