As outlined in the 2024 Appropriation Act signed by President Bola Tinubu, the ministry is allocated N10 million for local travel and transport: training, N15 million for local travel and transport: others, and N10 million for international travel and transport.
However, commenting on this allocation, Lucky Amiwero, the President of the National Association of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), suggested that funds earmarked for purchasing vehicles for the ministry should be redirected towards port rehabilitation.
Amiwero argued that investing such a substantial amount in vehicles is a misplacement of priorities, especially when Nigerian Seaports are in dire need of rehabilitation.
He emphasized the importance of improving port infrastructure to compete effectively with neighboring countries in the sub-region, urging for a shift in focus towards enhancing port facilities rather than acquiring expensive vehicles.
