According to Fox News, President Trump again threatened to end what he called the “ridiculous” policy of birthright citizenship which awards citizenship automatically to those born in the United States. “You walk over the border,have a baby,congratulations. the baby is now a US citizen. He explained. Its frankly ridiculous. He however pointed out that his administration has been drafting an executive order to stop citizenship automatically granted to any child born in the US soil,to non citizen immigrants.
Trump during an interview with HBO pointed out that “i can definitely get this done with an act of Congress,but they are saying I can do it with an executive order. “Now how ridiculous that we are the only country in the world where a person comes and has a baby and becomes a US citizen for 85years with all the benefits. It’s ridiculous,It’s ridiculous and has to end.
A lot of reactions has tailed his pronouncement with policy experts and civil rights leaders saying that President Trump lacks the Authority to unilaterally amend the constitution. His comments are basically to up his base for his campaign and of course this action would be caught up in the court for years they opined.
