Renowned Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, and his wife, Mabel, have decided to separate after 20 years of what AY described as “friendship/marriage.”
AY confirmed the news in a statement on his Instagram page on Sunday, expressing that he has reached a point where he prefers not to air deep personal family matters to the public.
He stated, “I have come to a stage in my life where I cannot share deep personal family issues with the public. Some of us understand the importance of protecting our loved ones from unnecessary exposure, especially in the age of social media.”
Acknowledging his mistakes without compromising his family’s privacy, AY mentioned the challenges of navigating blame and public perception in a world where women are often painted as victims.
Meanwhile, Mabel shared her perspective on Instagram, emphasizing her newfound approach to handling disrespect by choosing distance over confrontation.
