Following the reopening of the extensively repaired Third Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a stern warning to motorists regarding adherence to speed limits.
Adebayo Toafiq, the spokesperson for LASTMA, emphasized the importance of observing all traffic signs and utilizing the installed technological equipment connected to traffic management.
The Lagos State Government, in a statement released by Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced the resumption of full operations on the Third Mainland Bridge on April 4, 2024.
This development came after the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works conducted inspections of the repair work on the bridge and other Federal Government projects in Lagos.
To ensure the safety of drivers and facilitate prompt rescue operations on the bridge, LASTMA has deployed personnel, patrol cars, and recovery vehicles.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and plan their journeys in advance to avoid unnecessary speeding on the bridge and other connecting roads across the state.
In line with these efforts, LASTMA pledges to enhance its presence with increased manpower and resources to safeguard motorists and provide timely intervention when needed.
