Nigerian music icon Davido has taken a decisive step to pursue legal action against a misleading April Fool‘s joke that has sparked widespread controversy.
The prank falsely asserted that the Afrobeats star had been apprehended in Kenya after authorities purportedly discovered cocaine on his private jet.
Denouncing the fabricated report as “highly irresponsible,” the 31-year-old artist, fresh from concluding an East African tour, vehemently denied any truth to the concocted allegations.
Davido, who recently captivated audiences with electrifying performances at the Timeless Concert in Kampala and Raha Fest in Nairobi, lamented the distress caused by the viral misinformation.
“I have never faced arrest in any country for any offense, whether in my homeland Nigeria, my second home America, or any of the numerous countries I’ve traversed during my career,” Davido asserted in a statement shared on social media platforms.
The prank was initially propagated by Kenya’s K24 TV on Monday, and swiftly gained traction on various social media platforms, triggering an onslaught of inquiries and concerns directed at the Nigerian megastar.
