On Thursday morning, a group of people believed to be terrorists took away a Chinese worker who built roads and hurt a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) member very badly in the Obangede area of Kogi State in North Central Nigeria. Obangede is in the Okehi Local Government Area of the state.
Someone from the community narrated this on Thursday. They said the NSCDC officer who got hurt was one of the security people assigned to the Chinese engineer. From the report, the names of the kidnapped persons are yet to be disclosed as at the time of this report.
News also reached out to the state police spokesman, William Ovye Aya, to check and give more information about what happened. He said he would check and tell them later.
In a similar situation earlier, around February 3, about 14 passengers of God Is Good (GIG) Motors and ABC Transport were taken by force in Kogi while they were going to Abuja. This happened in Inyele Eteke, Olamaboro LGA. The passengers, who were traveling from the southeast, were set free a few days later. The people who took them stole the vehicles and then demanded N15 million from each passenger’s family to let them go.
