Coach Jose Peseiro has explained why he did not change Super Eagles formation on the field against Ivory Coast.
From the scenes of the game, William Ekong opened the scoring in the first half with an unexpected header. After then, the Super Eagles played a defense game but the hosts fought hard and scored two goals.
With so much pressure on the coach, as to why he chose such formation at the finals and why his team lost the cup, he replied:
“When you have a system that you have been using and it has been working, you really don’t want to change it.
It is true that I kept to this strategy until we were 2-1 down and then I decided to change it.
We conceded goals from some defensive errors and they had a drop in level, against the Ivorians.”
