According to a BBC Africa Eye report, the late Nigerian pastor TB Joshua had faked miracles in his SCOAN to attract members.
The report mentioned ways that the late televangelist has been faking miracles within his Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). BBC Africa had reached out to members of the church at the SCOAN to make enquiries about the pastor but the church said:
“Making unfounded allegations against Prophet TB Joshua is not a new occurrence… None of the allegations was ever substantiated,”
But without being deterred by the denial of the SCOAN members, BBC Africa gathered insights from across countries on the different deceptive tactics used by the late televangelist.
The emergency department- a section of the church, called the “emergency department”, was responsible for making the miracles look real to the public. An insider who worked closely with the pastor said:
“This is where the sick, who came to be healed, would be screened, and where the team would decide who should be filmed and prayed for by Joshua.
One Agomoh Paul, who supervised the department for ten years, who usually received direct instructions from the pastor, told the BBC that this emergency department team was trained by medical doctors.
“He is a former disciple – one of an elite group of dedicated followers who lived with the pastor inside the Scoan compound.
“Any cancerous situation, they send them away. Then, people who had normal open wounds that can heal, they bring them in, to present as cancer,” he says.
