In a recent podcast session titled “Bad and Bougie,” Nigerian actor Daniel Etim Effiong spoke about the differences between male and female actors when it comes to seeking financial help.
The podcast session was hosted by Moet Abebe and Tolani Baj where Daniel Etim was asked about the differences between male and female actors in the industry in terms of seeking financial help from the public.
They also talked about the role of women in the society and the societal expectations of men. Etim explained that these expectations placed men in a position where they are to shoulder the financial responsibilities of women alongside theirs.
He expressed that because men are culturally expected to carry the women as part of their responsibility, they tend to seek help outside to meet up while women do so discreetly.
He said, in times of distress men would rather go public to seek help than to allow their women to seek help and support the family which is contrary to the sociocultural values of Nigeria.
