The Sokoto Police Command has confirmed the death of 4 persons and the abduction of 18 persons in Giyawa village of Goronyo local government area in the senatorial district of Sokoto.
Ahmed Rufai, the assistant superintendent of police, has revealed that the assailants have taken into captivity 18 persons in addition to other valuables and livestock.
According to reports, 7 of the abducted persons were able to escape and manage to return to their village which has been deserted by the residents for safety.
Although news has it that over 30 persons were kidnapped, the police insisted that only 7 persons were still held captive by the kidnappers.
The police however, are on top of the case and are determined to restore security in the village.
