Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he would demand $500,000 per show if he embarks on a joint international tour with fellow music heavyweight Wizkid, expressing confidence that the two artists would sell out venues around the world.

Davido made the revelation during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of recording music and performing alongside Wizkid. Daily Post Nigeria reported on Davido’s comments.

While the singer was uncertain whether a joint record between them would become a major hit, he was considerably more confident about the commercial prospects of a joint tour.

According to him, the combination of their fan bases and individual popularity would make the proposed concert series a major attraction.

“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” Davido said.

However, discussing a possible tour, he added: “If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out.”

His comments have renewed conversations about one of Afrobeats’ most anticipated potential partnerships.

1. Davido Wants $500,000 Per Show

The biggest revelation from the interview was Davido’s proposed performance fee for a joint tour with Wizkid.

The singer said he would demand $500,000 for every show, suggesting that the commercial potential of the partnership would justify the amount.

At that rate, five shows would represent a combined performance fee of $2.5 million, while 10 shows would amount to $5 million.

These figures are based on the amount Davido mentioned and do not represent confirmed tour revenue or profit. Expenses such as venue rental, production, security, travel, promotion and other operational costs would still need to be considered.

He did not announce an agreed contract or confirmed tour dates. His statement was about what he would ask for if the proposed tour became a reality.

2. He Believes Every Venue Would Sell Out

Davido expressed strong confidence that a joint tour with Wizkid would attract massive audiences.

Both singers have established international fan bases and have performed at major venues across different countries.

Their individual popularity has also helped make Nigerian music more visible internationally, with Afrobeats attracting audiences beyond Africa.

A joint appearance would bring together two artists whose careers have often been discussed in comparison with each other.

For promoters, the possibility of selling tickets to fans of both musicians could make the project particularly attractive.

However, Davido’s prediction remains his personal expectation. No confirmed ticket sales or venue bookings currently establish that every proposed concert would sell out.

3. Davido Is Not Certain a Joint Song Would Become a Hit

Interestingly, Davido was less confident about the musical side of the proposed partnership.

He explained that bringing two major artists together does not automatically guarantee a successful record.

To illustrate his point, he referred to the collaboration between Nigerian music veterans D’banj and 2Baba, saying their joint record did not achieve the level of success he might have expected.

His comments suggest that he distinguishes between the commercial appeal of a joint concert and the unpredictable nature of producing a hit song.

A collaboration between two major stars can attract attention when announced, but its long-term success still depends on the music itself, audience reception and promotion.

4. The Two Superstars Have Not Recorded Together in Years

Davido also discussed the long gap since he and Wizkid last worked together in the studio.

According to reports of the interview, he said they had not recorded a song together in approximately 10 years.

He explained that their failure to collaborate was not necessarily because they were incapable of making music together.

Instead, he suggested that they had not been in the same mental space at the right time.

That explanation leaves open the possibility of a future collaboration, although neither singer has announced a confirmed recording session or release date.

5. Their Rivalry Has Remained a Major Afrobeats Conversation

For years, Davido and Wizkid have been at the centre of discussions about the biggest names in Nigerian music.

Their supporters have frequently compared their achievements, hit songs, streaming numbers, international performances and influence.

The rivalry has also been amplified by social media arguments between sections of their fan bases.

While the two artists have shared friendly moments and performed together in the past, disagreements and online exchanges have periodically revived the debate.

A joint tour would therefore carry significance beyond music. It could bring together fan communities that have spent years arguing about which artist deserves greater recognition.

6. A Joint Tour Has Been Discussed Before

This is not the first time the possibility of a Davido-Wizkid tour has generated excitement.

In January 2023, Wizkid publicly raised the prospect of touring with Davido after his More Love, Less Ego tour.

Davido later discussed the possibility during an interview with Beat FM, indicating that conversations about a joint project and tour had taken place.

However, the proposed tour did not materialise at the time.

The earlier discussions show that the idea has existed for several years, but fans are still waiting for a formal announcement that includes dates, venues, promoters and ticket information.

7. Fans May Be More Interested in the Tour Than the Song

Davido’s latest comments have placed renewed attention on what a joint project between the two stars could look like.

For some fans, the biggest attraction may not necessarily be a collaborative single. It could be the opportunity to watch both musicians perform their biggest songs on the same stage.

A tour could feature individual performances, joint appearances and special moments built around their shared history in Afrobeats.

It could also attract international media attention and introduce new audiences to the scale of Nigerian popular music.

Still, the business arrangements would be complicated. A project involving two major stars would require agreement on performance fees, scheduling, management, production, ticket pricing and revenue sharing.

Until those details are settled, the $500,000 figure remains Davido’s stated demand rather than a confirmed booking agreement.

Conclusion: Will Davido and Wizkid Finally Tour Together?

Davido’s comments have revived hopes for a joint tour with Wizkid, with the singer claiming that he would demand $500,000 per performance because he expects every venue to sell out.

Although he was unsure whether a joint song would become a hit, his confidence in the concert business potential of the partnership was clear.

The two artists have previously discussed working together and touring, but no official dates or confirmed agreement have been announced.

For now, fans can only wait to see whether the long-discussed partnership will finally move from interviews and social media conversations to a real international tour.

If it happens, it could become one of the most talked-about Afrobeats concert projects in recent years.
