British professional wrestling star PAC, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley, has died at the age of 40, just one day after competing in a major AEW pay-per-view event.
All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley’s death on Sunday, September 27, 2026, leaving wrestling fans shocked by the timing of his passing.
AEW confirmed the news in a statement, describing Satterley as a native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, who began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organisations around the world.
The promotion praised his high-flying style and in-ring ability while extending condolences to his family, friends and fans.
PAC’s Final Match Came Just One Day Earlier
The announcement came only hours after fans had watched PAC compete at AEW All Out at NOW Arena near Chicago on Saturday, September 26.
PAC faced Andrade El Ídolo in the opening match of the event, with Andrade’s AEW National Championship on the line.
According to AEW’s official results, Andrade defeated PAC and retained the championship. PAC came close to victory after applying his Brutalizer submission, but Andrade reversed the move and secured the win with a roll-up.
The match was broadcast in the United States through HBO Max, among other viewing options.
For fans watching the event, there was no indication that they were witnessing PAC’s final professional wrestling appearance.
Cause of Death Has Not Been Revealed
AEW did not disclose the circumstances or cause of Satterley’s death in its announcement.
Reports published following the announcement similarly stated that no cause had been made public.
That means claims connecting his death to his wrestling career, injuries or his final match would be speculation at this stage. There is currently no confirmed evidence that his death was caused by anything that happened during the All Out event.
The sudden timing of his death, however, has understandably left fans and fellow wrestlers mourning the loss of a performer who remained active at the highest level of professional wrestling until shortly before his death.
From Newcastle to WWE and AEW
Satterley started wrestling professionally in 2004 and gradually established himself as one of Britain’s most recognisable high-flying wrestlers.
He later joined WWE, where he performed under the name Neville and became particularly associated with the company’s cruiserweight division.
His explosive aerial style earned him the nickname “The Man That Gravity Forgot,” reflecting his reputation for spectacular moves from the top rope.
Satterley’s career eventually took him around the world before he signed with AEW in 2019.
AEW said he went on to hold multiple championships and compete in some of the most memorable matches in the promotion’s history.
A Champion in AEW
One of Satterley’s notable achievements came in 2022 when he became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion. The championship was later renamed the AEW International Championship.
He also became an AEW World Trios Champion.
In 2024, PAC, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta captured the World Trios Championship at Wembley Stadium in London, giving Satterley the opportunity to win a major title in front of a huge home-country crowd.
His AEW career also included memorable matches as part of the Death Riders and other major storylines.
Wrestling World Mourns PAC
News of PAC’s death has prompted tributes from across the wrestling community.
For many fans, Satterley represented a generation of wrestlers who combined athleticism, speed and spectacular aerial manoeuvres to create a distinctive style inside the ring.
His journey from Newcastle’s wrestling scene to WWE and eventually AEW made him an international name.
What makes his death particularly difficult for fans is that his final match had taken place only a day earlier.
At AEW All Out, PAC walked into the ring as an active challenger for the AEW National Championship. Hours later, his promotion announced that he was gone.
Benjamin Satterley was 40.
He leaves behind a wrestling legacy spanning more than two decades, with fans remembering him through the names PAC, Neville and “The Man That Gravity Forgot.”
