Nigerian music executive and businessman Soso Soberekon has reportedly offered N500 million to Peter Okoye, one half of the popular Nigerian music duo P-Square, to challenge his twin brother, Paul Okoye, to a celebrity boxing match.

The unexpected offer was made during a performance on Sunday night and has quickly attracted attention across social media, particularly because Peter and Paul have been involved in a long-running public dispute.

A viral video circulating online appeared to show Soberekon in the crowd holding up his phone toward Peter while the singer was performing on stage.

The message displayed on the phone reportedly read: “500 Million Naira to fight your twin in a boxing match.”

The unusual proposal immediately generated reactions from fans, with many people connecting it to the brothers’ ongoing financial and personal disagreements.

1. Soso makes N500 million boxing offer

According to the video circulating online, Soso appeared to make the massive financial offer directly to Peter during the performance.

The proposed N500 million prize would make the suggested contest one of the most lucrative celebrity boxing events involving Nigerian entertainers.

It is unclear whether the offer represents a formal proposal or was made as a spontaneous gesture during the event.

Neither Peter nor Paul has publicly confirmed that they have accepted the challenge.

2. The proposed fight involves P-Square twins

Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye became famous as P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music duos.

The twin brothers enjoyed years of commercial success, producing hit songs and performing internationally before their relationship deteriorated and the group eventually split.

Their rivalry has remained a major topic among Nigerian entertainment fans.

A boxing match between the brothers would therefore attract enormous attention because of their history, although the pair have not indicated that they intend to settle their disagreements inside a boxing ring.

3. The offer comes amid a financial dispute

Soso’s proposal comes at a particularly sensitive time for the brothers.

Peter has previously made serious allegations concerning the management and distribution of royalties connected to P-Square’s music.

He accused his twin brother Paul and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, of allegedly diverting music royalties.

The allegations intensified the already public disagreement between the family members.

Paul and Jude have previously disputed aspects of Peter’s claims, with the brothers’ disagreements playing out publicly through social media and legal proceedings.

The dispute has attracted considerable attention because of the enormous catalogue and commercial success associated with P-Square.

4. Fans react to the unusual proposal

The N500 million boxing proposal has sparked mixed reactions online.

Some fans have found the idea entertaining, particularly because celebrity boxing has become increasingly popular internationally.

Others have questioned whether turning a serious family dispute into a boxing contest would be appropriate.

The viral video has nevertheless generated renewed discussion about the relationship between Peter and Paul and the possibility of another public confrontation between the brothers.

For many longtime P-Square supporters, the disagreement remains disappointing because of the duo’s enormous contribution to African pop music.

5. Will Peter and Paul actually fight?

At the moment, there is no confirmed agreement for a boxing match between Peter and Paul.

Soberekon’s reported offer has created speculation, but an official boxing event would require both brothers to agree to participate, alongside organisers, contracts, medical checks and other arrangements.

It also remains unclear whether the N500 million offer is legally binding or simply an informal challenge made during the performance.

For now, fans will have to wait for Peter or Paul to respond publicly.

P-Square’s complicated history

Peter and Paul Okoye rose to prominence as P-Square and became household names across Nigeria and other African countries.

Their music career produced numerous successful records and international performances, making them one of the continent’s most influential sibling acts.

However, disagreements over business, management and finances eventually led to their separation.

Although the brothers have reunited at different points, tensions have continued to attract public attention.

The latest N500 million proposal has therefore added another unexpected chapter to their complicated story.

Whether it develops into an actual celebrity boxing event remains uncertain.

For now, the biggest confirmed development is that Soso Soberekon has reportedly dangled a huge N500 million incentive for Peter to step into the ring against Paul.

If the brothers eventually accept the challenge, the proposed fight could become one of Nigeria’s most talked-about entertainment events.
