Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has found himself at the center of a heated social media debate after participating in a pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu solidarity rally in Abuja.

The event, which featured several Nollywood personalities, was organized by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) movement under the theme, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” While supporters used the occasion to highlight what they described as achievements of the current administration, the rally quickly generated mixed reactions from Nigerians online.

The gathering came shortly after a medical outreach programme that reportedly provided free healthcare services, consultations, treatments, and medications to hundreds of residents, particularly low-income earners in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the veteran actor, Zack Orji, the administration’s policies and ongoing projects deserve public support as the government continues to address national challenges.

However, attention on social media soon shifted from the purpose of the rally to Zack Orji’s appearance during the event.

Videos and photographs circulating online showed the actor, Zack Orji walking slowly during the march, prompting widespread discussion among internet users.

Many commenters expressed concern about his physical condition, while others focused their criticism on the decision by entertainers to publicly support the current administration at a time when many Nigerians are facing economic hardship.

Several social media users questioned the message of the rally, arguing that rising living costs, inflation, unemployment, and insecurity remain major concerns for ordinary citizens.

Some critics suggested that celebrities should use their influence to amplify public concerns rather than endorse political leaders.

Others accused entertainers participating in the rally of seeking political relevance or personal benefits.

One recurring argument among critics was that many Nigerians are struggling financially and therefore find it difficult to relate to claims that the country is making significant progress.

As reactions intensified, supporters of the rally pushed back against the criticism.

Many defended the right of actors, musicians, and other public figures to support political candidates or administrations of their choice.

According to these supporters, political affiliation is a personal decision and should not be used as a basis for harassment or attacks.

Some also argued that celebrities, like every other citizen, have the constitutional right to participate in political activities and express their views on governance.

The debate reflects the broader divisions that continue to shape discussions surrounding President Tinubu’s administration.

Supporters point to ongoing infrastructure projects, economic reforms, healthcare initiatives, and government interventions as evidence that efforts are being made to improve the country.

Critics, however, argue that the benefits of those policies have yet to be felt by many Nigerians who continue to struggle with inflation, high transportation costs, and security concerns.

The controversy surrounding Zack Orji’s participation highlights the increasingly influential role celebrities play in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Over the years, entertainers have become powerful voices capable of influencing public opinion, mobilizing supporters, and shaping political conversations.

As a result, celebrity endorsements often attract as much attention as the political messages they are intended to promote.

For some Nigerians, the involvement of entertainers in politics is a positive development because it encourages civic participation and public engagement.

For others, celebrity endorsements can become controversial when they appear disconnected from the realities facing ordinary citizens.

The reactions to the Abuja rally demonstrate how emotionally charged political discussions have become, especially as conversations about governance, economic conditions, and national development continue to dominate public discourse.

Whether viewed as a legitimate expression of political support or a controversial public relations exercise, the event has succeeded in generating widespread attention.

It has also reinforced the reality that public figures often face intense scrutiny whenever they publicly align themselves with political causes.

As Nigeria gradually moves closer to another election cycle, the relationship between celebrities and politics is likely to remain a major topic of discussion.

For Zack Orji and the other entertainers who participated in the rally, the event has once again demonstrated how political involvement can spark passionate reactions from supporters and critics alike.

Regardless of where individuals stand on the issue, the conversation highlights the growing intersection between entertainment, public influence, and political engagement in modern Nigeria.
