A Nigerian lady was shocked after witnessing a trader allegedly adding a deadly pesticide, Sniper, to stockfish while shopping at a market.
The incident, which highlights a serious food safety concern, unfolded when the lady noticed the trader’s suspicious activity.
Upon confronting the trader and questioning why he was adding pesticide to food, the trader dismissively told her to either leave or purchase from another pile of stockfish that had not yet been treated with Sniper.
The trader claimed that all stockfish in the country are treated with Sniper, asserting his extensive experience in the business as justification for his actions.
The use of Sniper, a potent pesticide, on food items poses significant health risks to consumers.
This incident underscores the need for stricter food safety regulations and greater awareness among consumers to ensure that food products are safe for consumption.
Authorities and health organizations are urged to investigate such practices and enforce measures to prevent the contamination of food with harmful substances.
