Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has refuted a viral WhatsApp message falsely attributed to her.
The misleading message claimed she was receiving threats due to her meeting with President Bola Tinubu and praised his policies for attracting investors to Nigeria. Okonjo-Iweala clarified that the statements circulating on social media are entirely fabricated and aimed at causing discord among Nigerians.
She explained that her visit to President Tinubu was centered on discussing support for poor and vulnerable Nigerians and exploring ways to boost economic growth through job creation.
Okonjo-Iweala emphasized the importance of unity and warned against the divisive impact of such false information.
